About me

My name is Rob Butterworth. I am a versatile product designer with 20 years experience in the design industry. I have had the privilege to work on a large variety of projects for some of the world’s leading brands, as well as small startups.

Over the last 14 years I have been working for a London product design consultancy (Therefore Ltd) and some interesting startups such as GravityLight. Prior to this I had 2.5 years experience in UI & graphic design at Google among others, and then 3.5 years as a design engineer at Dyson.

My Approach

When I design a product I normally take the view form should follow function, and for good function usability is key. Hence I am particularly interested in human centred design. I believe a great product is one that is so easy to use it gives users a real pleasure and satisfaction.

I have excellent analytical skills with a good mix of ability in art and engineering. I am proficient at all stages of the design process from concept generation to design for manufacture. Where I excel is in transforming a concept idea into a real practical design. Typically working in 3D CAD, I am well versed in developing and producing prototypes, as well as creating production ready design data.

If you have an interesting project you think I can help with please get in touch.
